At Neighbor to Neighbor of South Carolina (N2N), our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. With just a few hours of your time, you can help an older adult, veteran, or adult with a disability stay connected to their community, maintain independence, and feel cared for.

Whether you drive, deliver pantry boxes, or make friendly check-ins, every act of service helps someone live a safer, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

🚗 Volunteering as a Driver

As a volunteer driver, you’ll use your personal vehicle to provide trusted and reliable transportation for older adults who can no longer drive themselves. You might help someone reach a medical appointment, pick up prescriptions, or simply visit the grocery store.

Drivers also assist with food and pantry deliveries, ensuring homebound neighbors receive the nutrition and supplies they need to age safely at home.

✔️ Flexibility That Fits Your Life

There’s no monthly minimum — we simply ask that you complete at least three volunteer services a year. Whether you serve weekly, monthly, or only when you’re in town, your time makes a difference. Our average one-way trip is 90 minutes, and round-trip rides take about 3 hours, including your ride to the client and home. Our volunteers include retirees, professionals, and snowbirds who appreciate the freedom to serve when it works for them.

✔️ Easy, Self-Directed Scheduling

You choose your rides or deliveries through our online volunteer portal. The system shows how close each request is to your location and how long the service will take. You can also opt in to daily or weekly emails with upcoming opportunities.

Every ride or delivery builds relationships and reduces isolation. Volunteers often share that a short drive or doorstep pantry delivery becomes the highlight of someone’s week and of their own.

Joining is easy!

1. Attend a 45-minute volunteer orientation – offered weekly virtually or in person.

2. Complete a quick background check and driving record review.

3. Start serving neighbors near you! You’ll be able to see, self-schedule, and track your volunteer activities right away.

🤝 Volunteer Client Coordinator Requirements

• Be comfortable handling client calls, reservations, and intake updates
• Willing to learn or know how to use GOOGLE workspace
• Have basic computer skills and familiarity with databases
• Initial training requires about 10 hours of training in the first two weeks to get familiar with workflows.
• Have a 4-hour block of time, weekly or twice monthly, to volunteer.

Client Coordinators are vital behind-the-scenes volunteers who help manage client communications, schedule ride requests, confirm appointments, and ensure clients feel heard, supported, and connected. This role helps Neighbor to Neighbor provide a personal touch while keeping services organized and efficient.
