Who We Are

Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) traces its roots back to 2005 when Mary Lou Brown, a local social worker, founded Grace Ministries to support elderly and chronically ill individuals through case management. By 2006, the organization provided care consultations, referrals, Medicaid application assistance, and housing rehabilitation to 50 home-bound seniors in Horry County.

In 2008, Harry Campbell, a retired clinical social worker, transformed the organization into what is now Neighbor to Neighbor, with the support of key board members like B.J. Bryant and partners like Raymond G. Fontaine from the Horry County Council on Aging. The first N2N client was referred by the Horry County Council on Aging, marking the beginning of its volunteer-driven transportation and support services.

As the need for services grew, N2N expanded into Georgetown County in 2010 and Williamsburg County in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, N2N responded to the increasing food insecurity among vulnerable populations by partnering with local pantry sites to deliver food directly to clients who could not leave their homes. This initiative became a core part of N2N’s services, ensuring that lack of transportation did not impact reliable access to essential nutrition for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.

Over the years, N2N has broadened its mission beyond transportation to include pantry deliveries and connectedness initiatives, fostering greater independence and dignity for those it serves. Today, Neighbor to Neighbor continues to grow, strengthening access to care and empowering its clients through strong partnerships with churches, community organizations, and volunteers. The organization remains committed to meeting the evolving needs of its neighbors while upholding the legacy of those who built its foundation.
